What is window oxidation?
Oxidation is a chalky, white or gray film that bonds to glass over time. It often comes from aluminum screens and metal frames: as the metal weathers, rain carries the residue down onto the glass, where it bakes on in the sun.
Hard water from sprinklers can leave a similar mineral haze. Either way, normal window cleaning will not remove it, because the deposit is bonded to the surface rather than sitting on top of it.
Left alone, the build-up gets heavier each season and becomes harder to remove.
SIGNS TO LOOK FOR
Do your windows have oxidation?
Cloudy after cleaning
The glass still looks dull or foggy even right after it has been washed.
Screen-shaped haze
A white or gray pattern on the glass that matches the area behind the screen.
Rough to the touch
Clean glass feels smooth. Glass with mineral or oxidation build-up feels slightly gritty.
HOW IT WORKS
How we remove it
1. Inspect
Andy checks the glass to confirm the haze is oxidation or mineral build-up and not damage inside a sealed unit.
2. Remove
The deposit is worked off with a non-abrasive process that will not scratch the glass.
3. Rinse
The glass is rinsed with purified water so it dries clear.
4. Maintain
Regular cleaning afterward helps slow future build-up.
Frequently asked questions
Will oxidation removal scratch my windows?
No. The process is non-abrasive and safe for glass.
Is the haze between the panes?
If the cloudiness is inside a double-pane window, the seal has failed and cleaning cannot fix it. Andy will tell you honestly if that is what he sees.
How much does oxidation removal cost?
It depends on how many windows are affected and how heavy the build-up is. Request a free estimate and include a photo if you can.
Will it come back?
It can, especially if aluminum screens stay in place. Regular cleaning slows it down considerably.
Can you remove hard water stains from sprinklers?
In most cases, yes. The process is similar. Heavy, long-standing stains may not come out completely, and we will tell you what to expect first.
